Artist Spotlight: Playboy Manbaby

Think structured but chaotic ska-punk-funk.

I particularly like Playboy Manbaby because they are bringing back the quintessential nostalgic sound of third wave ska-punk revival, circa 2008. Think Less Than Jake or Reel Big Fish, but less dub and more punk. For any San Diegan that was into the underground music scene at that time, you probably remember everyone starting a ska-punk band and the skank circles and sweaty skank pits.

Playboy Manbaby are not only great because they fill the ska void that was close to extinction, but they also totally own the bizarro, wacko image that comes with the genre. To start, they have completely irrelevant and random song titles such as Falafel Pantyhose, Moldy Cannoli, and Mermaid Pterodactyl, just to name a few.

In a perfect world, this would be party music:

To further show their love for Mr. Trump, they tweeted him everyday for a month straight:

Playboy Manbaby along with several other bands will be coming to Southern California for In-Koh-Pah Fest happening on June 3rd.

Support the band by purchasing their music and merch on Bandcamp.
