Dougie Poole delivered a truly special and intimate performance at Tubby’s, a small music venue in Kingston, NY. The sold-out crowd was treated to a captivating evening of twangy country music that showcased the talent of Dougie Poole and his trio. Although he is a born and raised New-Yorker, Dougie Poole has spent time in other areas across the states including Maine, Maryland, Rhode Island, and California. That being said, his signature psychedelic country twang really doesn’t feel like it is from any region you can put a finger on.
Onstage, Dougie Poole was joined by Mike Etten (guitar) and James Whitewood (pedal steel) on either side of him. The trio’s stripped-down sound allowed their musicianship and Poole’s lyricism to take center focus. His songs, filled with stories and relatable themes, sunk into the walls of Tubby’s, which felt like a perfect intimate venue for his music. The audience were captivated by Poole’s performance, and their enthusiastic energy fed back into Dougie Poole’s trio, creating a truly electric atmosphere. Even the intermission didn’t dampen the excitement, as this only provided the crowd an opportunity to eagerly await Poole’s return to the stage and grab some refills at the bar.
