Silver Gore is the London-based duo of Ava Gore and Ethan P. Flynn, who have just released their debut single “Dogs In Heaven” – an introduction to the group’s psychedelic, off-kilter sound. The track is laced with quirky synthesizer effects and a rhythmic undercurrent, while Ava’s playful vocals volley around the sonic ether – launching into ultra-high octaves and bouncing back just as easily. The duo is committed to avoiding over-polishing their ideas, so completing this track in one sitting is just part of their process, guaranteeing its rawness. “We set out to make a song based around exactly how we’re feeling in a moment,” Silver Gore explain. “Every decision then grows from that emotion; whether it’s the lyrics or the drum sound. We try to document it exactly how it is in the moment.”
“Dogs In Heaven” was inspired by one of Ava’s favorite movies from her childhood: All Dogs Go To Heaven. Looking back, Ava relates the film’s twist ending (no spoilers here) to the consequences we face in life, sharing “This song is about making decisions and the unexpected consequences that come from them.” Silver Gore are able to infuse the track with this nostalgia while embracing their weirdness, which amounts to an exciting entry into the psychedelic-pop sphere (and beyond) for the band.
