Radderall and Muzzy Fossa’s upcoming concept album The Club Is Open promises to be a richly layered exploration of duality. The duo (coined R.A.M.) crafts a narrative around two characters in pursuit of a mythical venue known as The Club, a place that symbolizes the tension between fleeting pleasures and deeper fulfillment.
Their fourth single, “Lana Lane,” is a standout moment in this unfolding story. With its subtle twang and R&B-inflected smoothness, the track evokes the golden glow of mid-2010s indie pop while adding a sensual, romantic sheen. The sultry guitar line and silky vocals create a dreamy atmosphere, like smoke curling through a half-lit room.
The song’s title is a nod to Muzzy Fossa’s childhood (Nathan Hunt grew up on Lana Lane) and the track carries that sense of innocence and nostalgia. It’s a meditation on mortality and memory. As Radderall’s Zach Taneyhill puts it, “We wrote the lyrics to the track with life and death in mind. ‘Only a breath away from Lana Lane, you’re only a step away from yesterday,’ to reflect the theme of duality across this record. If we die, where do we go? I don’t think anyone really knows, but if it was back to Lana Lane..that would be nice.” Perhaps the mythical Club isn’t a place at all, but a feeling – a return to something pure, something lost, something worth chasing.
