NYC-based pop-punk outfit Local Weatherman have dropped a fiery new single, “Thread.” Their heaviest release to date, the track dives into the mental chaos of having no “release valve” when your thoughts are spiraling. It’s a raw, emotionally charged anthem that blends aggression with vulnerability. The verses hit hard with striking guitars and urgent vocals, while the bridge offers a striking contrast of a brief, “prettier” moment that feels like a quick gasp of air. The breakdown at the end is especially powerful, delivering a cathartic punch that sets the tone for what’s to follow.
“Thread” serves as the opening track on Local Weatherman’s upcoming EP, Right One, slated for release early next year. The EP also includes their 2024 single “The Hole,” along with two brand-new songs that promise to expand their emotional and sonic range. If “Thread” is any indication, Right One will be a compelling exploration of inner tension, resilience, and growth.
“Thread” is released ahead of Local Weatherman’s upcoming EP, Right One, out January 16th, 2026 via Karol Records. Preorder available here.
