The Crooked Rugs, a psychedelic rock outfit hailing from Fort Collins, Colorado, have a knack for crafting songs that feel like they’re bending the air around you. Their latest track “Head Up” is a swirling, technicolor burst of sound that manages to be both loose and tightly dialed-in at the same time. The band shared that “Head Up” is about “staying above the noise and finding truth in a time full of deception,” an ethos that feels more and more relevant each day.
Built on a popping, fuzz-drenched groove, the song drifts forward with the kind of warm, relaxed confidence that comes from a band fully settled into its identity. The Crooked Rugs are here to rock and set the nostalgia-infused, laid-back vibes. Their upcoming album, The Crooked Rugs (TCR), will be out May 15th, and they’re celebrating with a record release show on May 22nd at The Aggie Theatre in Fort Collins alongside Jesus Christ Taxi Driver, Slow Caves, and Bitchflower.
