JWords, the project of Brooklyn-based producer Jennifer Hernandez, has released the lead single “LUSH” ahead of her new album, Sound Therapy. Adequately named, “LUSH” settles the listener into a soft cloud of synthesizers while a steady rhythm pulses throughout. The repeating mantra of “I see me in you” and “I see you in me” is simple, yet it becomes something grounding and intimate as the song progresses. These lyrics, combined with the track’s shimmering production, create an atmosphere that dissolves the boundary between self and other as the music fully envelops the listener.
The new album Sound Therapy explores the troubles and triumphs Hernandez has navigated since her 2022 debut solo EP, Self Connection. Rather than writing an emotional rollercoaster, Hernandez leans fully into what she calls her “I got my shit together” era, an approach that results in a record defined by clarity and confidence. The upcoming album also features Hernandez as a vocalist for the first time, a shift that adds a new layer of vulnerability and presence to her sound.
“LUSH” is released ahead of JWords’ upcoming album, Sound Therapy, out May 8th, 2026. Preorder available here.
