Paul Dunne from Southern California channels garage-rock fuzz and deep-fried psychedelia into a woozy, heavy-hitting anthem about extraterrestrial bad habits. “My Alien Drank All the Beer” has everything you want from a garage rock track: guitar lines that are at a voltage-frying level of overdrive, vocals that match that energy, and a subject that is both funny and absurd. At first listen, it’s clear Dunne draws inspiration from Ty Segall and Fuzz, especially their rough, raw early recordings. Toggling between anthem-esque, heavy verses and an almost trailing-off singing style, Dunne brings a level of dimension that extends beyond the typical garage rock sound.
