Show Review: Rebounder (Winston’s OB, 5/18/2024)

Rebounder from NYC play catchy indie rock that feels like a perfect day out with friends. The songs have a way of emitting positive energy and they are nearly impossible to listen to without the slightest head-bop. 2020’s Subway Songs were a powerful entry into the indie rock sphere for the band, and this was followed up with a handful of singles and covers. Their follow-up sophomore EP Sundress Songs will be out in late August of this year and Sunset Vision is the opening song:

The band’s collection of feel-good indie rock songs were very much appropriate for Winston’s, a music venue situated in the heart of Ocean Beach just a block away from the shore. Sounding like 91x’s 2010s hey-day of indie rock, Rebounder would have fit right in playing any beach festival in San Diego, so Ocean Beach was the perfect setting for their music. The crowd was a mix of college-aged music fans and locals looking to have a drink and a good time on a Saturday night. Rebounder provided the perfect backdrop for this occasion as they played all the songs the crowd were familiar with, plus a cover. They kept the crowd at Winston’s grooving throughout the set with their energetic performance, complete with solos, stunts, and dancing.
