Pittsburgh-based Sunny Daze & The Weathermen have a new song out now called “Action Required”. It’s full of vivacious energy, backed by a punchy bassline and crunchy guitar. “Action Required” sounds like DEVO travelled to the future and listened to early King Gizzard then brought that sound back to the 70s, but it’s actually 2025. It sounds familiar, but not dated. It’s a fresh earworm for those egg-punks craving a new call-and-response anthem. The aggression conveyed in the main line “Action Required” encourages you to get up and answer the call to action.
The band, formed in 2022, is comprised of front-man Max Begler (vocals, guitar), joined by Nate Ritz (lead guitar, vocals), Dan Watts (drums, synth, vocals), Harry Scarrott (percussion, drum machine), Jason Kuehnle (synth), and Colin Gassman (bass). The song “Action Required” was recorded and mixed by Jake Hanner, from the band Donora, and mastered by Dave Gardner of DSG Mastering in Los Angeles, CA.
