Lebanese-Belgian artist Phelles creates a blend of African and Middle Eastern sounds in “Azure”, out now on Argentina-based label AMITABHA Records. The track clocks in at over 7 minutes, but Phelles guarantees to keep the listener engaged and moving the whole time, drawing from influences of melodic house and techno. From the top of the song, there’s a solid rhythm that is introduced and stays with you throughout the entirety of the track. At the same time, there’s a momentum that gradually builds and propels the track forward, keeping you moving throughout the runtime. The layers folded into the track create depth while also keeping it interesting. Ultimately, the song delivers a rewarding listen when the build-up pays off at about 3:30 in and with some dreamy vocal samples.
