Glasshouse Red Spider Mite are from Brighton, UK. The band began making a name for itself in the slow-core scene starting in 2023, though the members had already been playing together between various side projects, steadily building their repertoire and momentum. They recently released a new single titled “Ant Mill,” which comes ahead of a four-track EP to be released later this month.
“Ant Mill” starts off very gently and melodically, with soothing lyrics that create the perfect soundscape. Midway presents the perfect breakdown of after thought and contemplation, it’s a slowing silent moment that gives us that perfect pause to reflect on it all. Here in this moment is where all the beauty lies for me, slowly urged and picked back up to painstaking perfection and eloquence. The ending of the song is a testament to the beauty of intensity portrayed through the band’s music and prior songs. Slightly newer to the scene, they’ve become one of my favorable hidden gems.
“Ant Mill” is released ahead of Glasshouse Red Spider Mite’s upcoming EP What Do You Mean The Monster?… Hahaha, which will be out on May 21st via Memorials of Distinction. Pre-order available here.
