Rebecca Schiffman’s new song “Bubble of Love” harkens back to the quirky indie anti-folk of the 2000s. The song cultivates a bright indie-pop atmosphere, dotted with candid vocals and a lively rhythm that energizes the track. While it has a nostalgic quality, its rawness gives it a timelessness that keeps it from being confined to any particular genre or era. “Bubble of Love” explores the honeymoon phase wearing off in a relationship and the growing urge to “pop the bubble” when the claustrophobia becomes overwhelming. This is the second single from Rebecca Schiffman’s fourth album, Before The Future, which will be out later this year.
Schiffman’s upcoming album was made possible with a little help from a few friends. The production credits are a who’s who of the 00-10’s L.A. indie rock scene; featuring Steve Marion (Delicate Steve), Gregory Uhlman, Davin Givhan (Detangler), Oliver Hill (Kevin Morby, Sam Evian, Vagabon), Zac Sokolow, Joshua Crumbly, Sam KS (The War on Drugs, St. Vincent), Kosta Galanopoulos (Cassandra Jenkins), Doug Stuart (Luke Temple, Meerna), Clinton Patterson, Jay Israelson, and Emily Elkin (Damien Jurado, Angel Olsen). It was mixed by Sean O’Brien (The National), Jarvis Taveniere (Woods), and Rob Shelton (Meerna, Shannon Lay); engineered by Kyle Thomas (King Tuff), Cohen, Carr, and Shelton, and mastered by Mike Nolte. Such an ensemble of characters on a single album is a true testament to the music community of Los Angeles and an idea of what to expect on Before The Future.
“Bubble of Love” is released ahead of Rebecca Schiffman’s upcoming album, Before The Future, out independently on July 25th. Pre-order available here.
