“autowalk” is the debut solo single from Go Kurosawa, the former drummer and vocalist of Kikagaku Moyo, and founder of the Guruguru Brain label, offering an early glimpse into his individual artistic vision. The volume of instruments heard on the album are all played by Kurosawa himself, made possible by the extensive collection accumulated at his Rotterdam-based studio. Playing everything himself became a central concept on the album, entering the studio with no particular plan and letting the instruments guide the sound. There’s a looseness to the music, it feels genuinely fun and jammy while also rhythmic and measured.
The upcoming album, soft shakes, follows this structure and was crafted during a time of significant change for Kurosawa and his partner Ao, as they coordinated a move from Europe to Japan. Kurosawa shares that this longing for a faraway home exudes through the music, and now working to rebuild a studio in their new home in Fukuoka, it signifies the end of a chapter while looking forward to what’s ahead.
“autowalk” is released ahead of Go Kurosawa upcoming EP, soft shakes, out September 5th, 2025 via Guruguru Brain. Preorder available here.
