Katzin’s new single “Wild Horses” is a bright tapestry of sounds and another example of the artist’s coming of age. It’s a little lo-fi, a little poppy, and full of good vibes. Although released on the cusp of fall and winter, it feels like a summer track, offering a touch of sunny warmth as we head into the colder months. The song captures the feeling of breaking free and chasing horizons.
Katzin is the project of twenty-year-old Zion Battle who is currently based out of New York. The artist is a recent signee to Mexican Summer, who will be releasing his debut album early next year. The album, Buckaroo, was produced alongside collaborator Max Morgen; the duo roadtripped from Los Angeles to Joshua Tree where they set up a makeshift recording studio in a cabin. “It was a really anxious time. We were both heading off to college, getting ready to leave our homes and move to new states,” he says. “By isolating ourselves, we were able to capture this raw creative energy. It feels like we made a love letter to our childhoods.”
“Wild Horses” is released ahead of Katzin’s debut album, Buckaroo, out February 13th, 2026 via Mexican Summer. Preorder available here.
