Dirt Buyer is the project of Joe Sutkowski, a Brooklyn-based musician who has released two albums under the name, Dirt Buyer (2019) and Dirt Buyer II (2023). His new single, “Get To Choose,” arrives ahead of the artist’s upcoming third LP, Dirt Buyer III, set to be released on Bayonet Records early next year. The track brims with energy, motivation, and attitude – an upbeat anthem that demands you to take control of your life and decisions, reminding you that, ultimately, you “get to choose.“
The project was initially a duo with Ruben Radlauer (Model/Actriz) while they were at school in Berklee. They recorded the band’s self-titled 2019 debut album on an iPhone in their practice space – a project that eventually became a pillar of underground slowcore and indie lo-fi. A self-described “emo kid at heart,” raised on My Chemical Romance and Muse, Sutkowski skillfully blends his earlier lo-fi aesthetic with a cleaner, vocal-forward sound not afraid to have a pop moment. “Get To Choose” is a statement of artistic growth, channeling Sutkowski’s slowcore and emo roots into a polished yet uncompromising sound that positions Dirt Buyer III as his most confident work to date.
