Verse Metrics, formed in 2009 in Scotland, craft a sound that blends emotionally charged post-rock and indie rock with subtle math-rock. On their new single, “Sea Fairies (We’re Not Alone In This Lake),” the band builds their instrumentation into a sweeping sound, full-bodied crescendo, anchored by commanding, crooning vocals that glide across rack. The result is something that sounds massive and immediate. Their long-awaited debut album, Descents, has been nearly fifteen years in the making and is finally on the horizon, with a release coming this later this year.
