Bloodworm – “Alone In Your Garden”

Bloodworm from Nottingham has released “Alone In Your Garden,” a moody track inspired by fall and folklore. The alternative post-punk trio – George Curtis on vocals/guitar, Euan Stevens on drums, and Chris Walker on bass – leans further into a gothic atmosphere on this single, pairing shadowy instrumentation with flowery lyrics that explore the tension between beauty and danger.

The song’s imagery paints a relationship that begins as something soft and alluring but gradually reveals a colder undercurrent. Lines about delicate moonlight, shifting seasons, and a “winter waking” reflects the feeling of a warm and comforting love turning cold. The band’s darker sonic palette amplifies this sense of creeping chill through the metaphorical garden they’ve painted.

“This song was written during Autumn over a particularly cold couple of days. I was inspired by the very unique feeling of that time of year, the smell of the air, the falling leaves, the damp stillness that all feels so specifically English. I was trying to invoke those feelings within a song.

The song was an attempt at mixing old English folk, with all its folklore and emphasis on tales, with the gothic sound that I am drawn to.”

-George Curtis on “Alone In Your Garden”
