MX LONELY has returned with “Big Hips,” a moody and cathartic single ahead of their debut album which will be out early next year. The Brooklyn band’s laid-back style makes for a powerful alternative-rock track that tackles social issues while still weaving in touches of their signature cheeky lyrics. The song perfectly captures youthful angst and pointing out the inconsistencies with how differently the sexes are treated during puberty.
The band shares that “Big Hips” is “a self-mocking celebration of youthful masculinity,” particularly through the lens of trans youth. Its reflects the realization for a preteen that puberty is something that happens to you, rather something that you can control – especially when it is met with unwelcome voyeurism and body dysphoria. With characteristic humor, they add that at its core, the song is “a big dick joke.”
“Big Hips” is released ahead of MX LONELY’s upcoming album, ALL MONSTERS, out February 20th, 2026 via Julia’s War Recordings. Preorder available here.
