Pomodoro – “Weathered” + “Gun”

Pomodoro is the jangly alternative project of Phoenix resident Alex Zahn, whose distinct approach to songwriting and guitar work reveals an artist unafraid to embrace emotion and pour their entire being into their music. “Weathered” and “Gun” are the artist’s newest tracks, both reflecting a growing confidence in songwriting and sonic direction. Zahn blends shimmering guitar tones with introspective lyrics, crafting songs that feel equally sun-fried in the Sonoran desert and emotionally resonant. This release signals a step forward for Pomodoro, hinting at more refined sounds to come for the rising artist.

On “Weathered,” the melodic chord progression of the introduction, before the vocals kick in, sets the track up to be a bright, jangly pop tune. Central to the song are the expressive guitar playing and the dual vocal melodies that intertwine with a natural chemistry. Before long, the track becomes an earworm worthy of many replays. The B-side “Gun” continues along the same trajectory, stripping the sound back just a notch, yet the result is a song equally impressionable. The stripped-down sound reveals Zahn’s ability to do more with less, allowing emotion and atmosphere to rise to the surface. Together, these two songs showcase a forming musical identity for Pomodoro – one that is distinct, emotionally honest, and worth keeping firmly on your radar.
