On her new single, “There,” Austin-based artist Lauren Lakis plays shoegaze-inspired alternative rock with her signature gothic twist. The song is about longing to feel connected and cared for, even if it means they won’t “win.” The push-pull relationship between wanting closeness and feeling abandoned becomes the emotional engine of the track, creating a tension that Lakis thrives in.
Throughout the track, Lauren Lakis’ ethereal vocals float atop the dark and low-end-heavy instrumentation, creating a hypnotic contrast that pulls the listener deeper into her emotional landscape. “There” feels like a daydream wrapped in distortion.
“There” is released ahead of Lauren Lakis’ upcoming album, Deadlights, out May 8th, 2026 via RidingEasy Records.
