Clutter are a Swedish quartet made up of 20 year-olds Hilda Ander (vocals, guitar, bass), Emma French (vocals, guitar, bass), Ville Scott (drums, keys), and Ove Jerndal (guitar, keys). They fuse the raw intensity of grunge and post-hardcore through fuzzy vocals that feel like they are desperately trying to find a connection. These vocals sit on top of distorted guitars and drums that create a strong foundation for their music that is bubbling with emotion and potential. It has a very 90s feel, with a modern twist, and contains many textures to pull out and chew on with every subsequent listen. Fresh off a UK tour with Hinds, Clutter are proving to be an export artist to look out for in the coming years.
Their debut six-track EP, Loves You, expands their sonic landscape by intertwining existential lyrics, gritty post-hardcore riffs, and defiant, punk-inspired anthems. The EP was originally conceived as a farewell project amid the prospect of starting university and band members parting ways. This however morphed into the start of a new beginning for the band, when positive feedback from labels inspired them to continue with Clutter rather than close this chapter.
