sssiv – sssiv 2 EP

sssiv, the Copenhagen trio of Sara (drums, vocals), Stephen (bass, vocals) and Sasha (guitar, vocals), return with ssiv 2, a release the band describes as their most formal recording session to date. The shift away from their fully improvised dreamscapes is immediately noticeable. What emerges instead is a set of sharply shaped pieces that still preserve the group’s instinctive pull towards improvisational drift. Across the EP, these new textures refract into songs that maintain the band’s openness while gaining a clearer sense of form.

The EP opens with the feel-good, dream-pop shimmer of “all the time,” a gentle and uplifting entry point. “summer rain” follows, built from subtle sonic details that mesmerize and envelop across its brief 86-second span. “summer vibe 2026” leans into nostalgia, layering vocals into a lush, romantic haze. On “ask for better,” the band pivots into darker territory, foregrounding a haunting, fog-like guitar tone that is at the forefront of the music. This guitar traipses to the next song, “tell me what I want to hear,” where the tempo lifts and the EP returns to the brightness introduced in its opening track.

The easy, familiar tempo of “stopped me” makes it instantly catchy, with dual vocals weaving and echoing through the melody. Closing track “I can never fall asleep without you” feels like a return to sssiv’s more ambient, experimental roots, blending ricocheting drums, hazy vocals, and found sounds into a fading soundscape that dissolves the EP back into silence.
