Dean Blunt & Elias Rønnenfelt – “tears on his rings and chains”

There isn’t a selection of work Dean Blunt has put out that I haven’t considered a new-age masterpiece. One of my all time favorite duos from Blunt was a song with Elias Rønnenfelt, released a couple years back in 2023 called “Smile Please“. Today, I was ecstatic to see the duo has rejoined and released another track, with Vegyn also behind on the production. Without a doubt, it’s already become an absolute favorite of mine from Mr. Blunt’s archives. The song is titled “tears on his rings and chains.” The song’s initial release was actually back in February via SoundCloud, and today the track was fully released on Spotify and other streaming platforms, as it appears to just now beginning to pick up momentum. Yet still, I can’t believe I slept on this one for months! Indeed go ahead, I deserve all the criticism for that one!

Like many of Blunt’s songs, there’s a background essence of love and heartfelt conditioning behind the instrumentals and within the lyrics. The song’s acoustic composition is carried by warm, synth textures, led by Rønnenfelt’s romantic vocal arrangements. Lyrics “And I just wasn’t made up for these times, but I don’t care as long as you are mine,” were my striking moment from the track, a moment of confirmation that I just had to share this song with all. Not a day passes that I don’t have a moment of silence where I find myself thinking that I just don’t have a place in this modern world. It’s as if my soul and purpose are forever engaging with this inner battle of over-sensitivity that makes it all too much to handle. But alas, my heart chimes in, reminding me of the strength that real, true love lies behind just one another in this world. I emphasize when I say “just one” is all it takes, to replenish me with the forward momentum to believe there’s a future to live for with brighter days and a bigger picture beyond my despair and anguish

Songs such as these bring me back to that place. A place of absorption in appreciation to regain forward thinking and believing, just when I need it most. That my love, in whatever and whomever I may find it within, is all I need in a world I feel so displaced in, to carry me and lead me back to where I’m distinguished and reconnected with my vitality. I truly hope this track touches and carries you in the same way it did for me this morning. As always, enjoy and stream here!
