Georgia rockers Wieuca have a range of influences that stretch far and wide across genres, and maybe that’s why I can really appreciate what they have composed to become a design of their own. Their new album Truth Management is all over the place; reminds you a little bit of this, and a bit of polar opposite that, and yet it’s so catchy falling under its own sound. The group formed a little over ten years ago as a pretty standard 4-piece ensemble, with bassist/banjoist Sam Kempe doing a lot of the group’s recording and producing. Most commendable for myself is the group’s aspiration to combine a diverse background of influence, quoting anywhere from ‘psychedelic experimentation,’ to ‘90’s emo, and all things twangy. I don’t even know what all that means, but the ending production of these themes incorporated within each track brings me back to a place and time when music still felt so original. A time of simple composure, when every new artist and style opened your mind and senses up to a new realm of feeling. The emo influence is definitely there in the new track titled Farm-To-Table Crack. Anything new that can take me back to a place and time is something to cherish.
