Jay Feelbender – “Benny’s Sleepover”

Jay Feelbender, the alt-pop project of Toronto’s Jacob Switzer, kicks off their debut album Gallery of Desire with “Benny’s Sleepover,” a track that blends emotional vulnerability with infectious indie rock energy. The song dives into the messy terrain of love, jealousy, and insecurity, told through a lens of late-night parties and unspoken feelings. With its rhyming cadence and punchy chorus, it’s instantly singable, even as it traces the ache of romantic despair. Switzer has previously played alongside Goodbye Honolulu and Luna Li, paving the way for his solo project.

Despite the lyrical tension of watching someone you love drift toward someone else, “Benny’s Sleepover” maintains a buoyant, almost cheerful sound. It creates a unique type of song that you can dance to, even through heartbreak. This emotional complexity sets the tone for an album that promises to explore even deeper terrain, and we can expect plenty of pop moments throughout.

Switzer describes Gallery of Desire as his most personal work yet, touching on “the deaths of close friends and family, heartbreak, and addiction, but also stumbling into new love and finding glimmers of hope for the future.” If “Benny’s Sleepover” is any indication, Jay Feelbender is poised to deliver a debut that’s as cathartic as it is catchy.

“Benny’s Sleepover” is released ahead of Jay Feelbender’s upcoming album, Gallery of Desire, out October 16th, 2025 via Victory Pool Records. Preorder available here.
