Susannah Joffe entered the stage at Cheer Up Charlies wearing her signature western-glam aesthetic; paired with an all-denim ensemble and artistic makeup. This look created a unique mix with her attention-grabbing twangy vocals and honest songwriting, which were the true frontrunners of the set. Although she went on after midnight, at a show that was running nearly an hour behind schedule, she grabbed the attention of everyone in the crowd. By the end of the first song, it felt mutually known amongst the crowd that Susannah Joffe was a name to get on your radar. The outdoor stage at Cheer Up Charlies was packed with a few hundred people, a stark contrast to the club-like environment of the indoor bar. While the indoor bar was playing current pop hits, outside Susannah was transporting us to an era where pop and rock were interchangeable. It was a reminder that a musician in their purest emotional form will always be relevant.
